NUVODOX sutures are made from polydioxanone, a polyester polymer (poly-p-dioxanone), and are available in violet. These monofilament sutures, including ophthalmic surgery, are designed for soft tissue approximation with minimal tissue reaction. They offer extended wound support, making them ideal for procedures requiring absorbable sutures with more extended support.
The sutures are absorbed through hydrolysis, breaking down entirely within 180 to 210 days. They retain 70% tensile strength for 2 weeks, 50% for 4 weeks, and 25% after 6 weeks. With a USP range from 6-0 to 2, they provide excellent knot tying and handling, ensuring secure closure with minimal tissue trauma.
Sterilized with ethylene oxide (EO), NUVODOX sutures have a 3-year shelf life. They are packaged in aluminium foil with or without needles and offer predictable absorption and reliable performance. These sutures are ideal for various surgical applications, ensuring consistent support throughout the healing process while minimizing the risk of complications.
